Brief Eclectic Psychotherapy for PTSD: BEPP – An international online training course

An international online training course

The training course will be held in English and is online. It consists of three days of training and in addition three BEPP supervisions of two hours on a participant’s practiced treatments.

What is BEPP?
BEPP is a psychological treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), developed by Prof. dr. Gersons. BEPP has been included in several international guidelines as an effective treatment for PTSD and is recommended by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS).

BEPP distinguishes itself from other trauma-focused treatments in its focus on intense emotions related to trauma and in its meaningmaking of the associated terrifying experiences. In BEPP, active elements from different psychotherapy disciplines have been brought together, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, grief therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. That is why the name eclectic psychotherapy has been chosen.

The 70 page BEPP protocol is available in English, Spanish, German, Italian, Polish, Dutch, Georgian, Lithuanian and Korean.

Experienced trainers
Trainers are Prof. dr. Berthold Gersons, who is the founder of BEPP, together with dr. Mirjam Nijdam, PhD and Jannetta Bos, MSc.

Participants and course
The BEPP training course has been developed for mental health professionals working with clients who have experienced traumatic events. The course will be held in English and is online. It consists of two days of consecutive training. A third day will be held after six months and separate appointments will be made for the three additional two hour BEPP supervisions on a
participant’s practiced treatments. During the training participants will become familiar with all five elements of the BEPP
protocol: psychoeducation, imaginal exposure to the traumatic event, writing assignments, the domain of meaning and integration, and the farewell ritual. Theoretical introductions will be alternated with practical case demonstrations on video, roleplaying and individual exercises. This will help to understand and fine-tune the treatment when applying the protocol. There will also be space for discussion and for sharing experiences with clients and sharing ideas.

Dates:
September 26th and 27th 2022; April 4th 2023
plus three supervision of two hours.

Costs: € 1.230,-
